Surgical Oncology

The Department of Surgical Oncology at ILS Hospitals employs innovative surgical procedures to deliver a holistic and patient-centred approach to cancer therapy. Our team of expert surgical oncologists is equipped with knowledge and cutting-edge technology to treat various categories of tumors. Owing to the uniqueness of each cancer type, we develop personalized treatment plans for our patients to ensure their health, well-being and long-term recovery.

Our department specialises in tumour removal with the sole aim of achieving the best possible results. Our highly skilled surgeons utilise minimally invasive techniques, such as laparoscopic surgery and robotic-assisted surgery, which reduce recovery time and minimise scarring, thereby enhancing patient comfort.

Our services :

The team provides a wide range of innovative cancer treatment options. The primary services offered are as follows :

  1. Cancer diagnosis and staging: This involves a series of comprehensive diagnostic techniques, including CT scans, MRIs, and PET scans, alongside biopsy and pathological exams, to accurately diagnose and stage cancer.
  2. Minimally invasive surgery: It mainly involves two categories:
  3. Laparoscopic surgery –  Our surgeons make use of minimally invasive techniques for various cancers, allowing for smaller incisions, quicker recovery and reduced scarring.
  4. Robotic-assisted surgery: We use state-of-the-art robotic technology for precision and minimal disruption to surrounding tissues.
  5. Tumor resection: This covers cancers of the gastrointestinal tract, lung, liver, breast, etc., where surgical removal is necessary. Radical surgery is performed in severe situations to remove all forms of malignant growth.
  6. Breast cancer surgery: Based on the patient’s condition, our surgeons perform either mastectomy (removal of the breast) or lumpectomy (removal of the tumor), in addition to sentinel lymph node biopsy and axillary dissection for staging of breast cancer.
  7. Colorectal cancer surgery: Our surgeons remove the tumor from the colon and rectum. The colorectal surgery is less invasive as it allows for faster recovery and fewer complications after surgery.
  8. Head and neck cancer surgery: Complex surgeries are performed for cancer of the mouth, throat, larynx and neck. This is followed by reconstructive surgery to restore functionality and appearance after tumor removal.
  9. Lung cancer surgery: The surgeons perform lobectomy for the removal of lung tumors along with mediastinal lymph node dissection for accurate staging.
  10. Gastrointestinal cancer surgery: Surgeons use this method to treat cancers of the stomach, liver, pancreas, and esophagus.
  11. Endocrine cancer surgery: This method is preferred for endocrine malignancies, including those of the thyroid, parathyroid, and adrenal glands.
  12. Reconstructive surgery: This involves post-surgical reconstructive procedures, especially for breast, head and neck cancers, to restore function as well as appearance.
  13. Palliative surgery: Surgeons make use of certain techniques to ease symptoms and improve the quality of life for individuals with advanced stages of cancer.
