Interventional cardiology is an advanced branch of cardiology that deals with non-invasive techniques to evaluate the functions of the heart and detect abnormalities. It also uses various other procedures offering treatment for defects and abnormalities.
When the term non-invasive is used, it implies that the incisions are not made near/on the heart. Instead, minute incisions are made on wrists and legs to insert diagnostic probes through the blood vessels, thereby justifying the specialty ‘interventional’ cardiology. It uses a catheter (a small, tube-like structure) to carry out most of the procedures, that rectifies the blocked, damaged or narrowed blood vessels.
Interventional cardiology addresses cardiac conditions like heart valve diseases, congenital heart defects, peripheral vascular diseases and more.
At ILS hospitals, we have experienced medical team and advanced medical equipment to address cardiac ailments.
