Dr Hanish Sharma is an astute clinician – Gastroenterologist , with special interest in Hepatology, Pancreatic diseases and Inflammatory bowel diseases, researcher trained in basic and clinical research ,skilled endoscopist and endosonologist and a keen enthusiast in new device biodesign.
After a meritorious schooling career at Bhilai, he obtained his MBBS from Pt Ravishankar Shukla University, Raipur with honours in Physiology, Pathology, Pharmacology, Otorhinolaryngology and the university Gold Medal in Sugery in 2005. During his internship he topped the PG entrance examination and did his MD in Internal Medicine from All India Insitute of Medical Sciences, Delhi (2008). His graduate research work was recognized and awarded. Subsequently qualified for the DM programme in Gastroenterology at AIIMS, Delhi (2009-2012). He trained, worked and researched on emergent diseases especially acute liver failure, acute pancreatitis, celiac disease and primary liver cancer.
After the degree, he continued as a Senior Research associate at AIIMS Delhi till 2013. Under the mentorship of legendary teachers he participated in the development of consensus guidelines for primary liver cancer (HCC) and Asia-Pacific status repot on Celiac disease. During this time he was keenly involved with the Stanford India Biodesign programme which resulted in design and development of a safer liver biopsy device and prototypes for GI bleeding and paracentesis which have received international patents. He also participated in initial testing and trials of rectal continence device which got FDA approval. His work was awarded at national and international conferences. He has contributed to 15 indexed publications, apart from book chapters.
He is currently focused on providing one step services for gastroenterology at Chhattisgarh and form a nucleus for comprehensive advanced care in this region.
