Research Work:
Audit
1. Foot School Audit – St. Helens & Knowsley Teaching Hospitals (March 2020)
Aim: To assess if the foot school is instrumental in facilitating early discharge.
Results: Helps quick patient discharge and reduces burden on physiotherapists to teach protocol within a short time. Also helps the trust as patients attending the foot school clinic come only as day cases.
Recommendations: Elective listing forms should include a tick box for foot school so the TCI team can invite listed patients. Consultants and registrars should encourage patients to attend foot school.
2. Evaluation of New Patients Booked into the Fracture Clinic – St. Helens & Knowsley Teaching Hospitals (Nov 2021)
Aim: To assess the number of face-to-face new patients seen by the Orthopaedics Department and evaluate distribution and triaging for consultant clinics.
Results: Upper limb clinics have a higher number of follow-up appointments. The average number of new patients is unequally distributed, with notable overbooking in upper limb clinics.
